On the 2nd of July, we hosted our ‘SOP Fabulous at 40’ black tie event in celebration of Supporting Older Peoples 40th Anniversary, and what a night it was!
Guests started to arrive at the Crown Plaza Hotel, Harrogate and were greeted by the amazing Love Pop Choir who perfectly set the scene for the night ahead. After enjoying a glass of fizz, we all took our seats.
Garrey Lee, The Poetic Optician, was our MC for the night and got us all in the party mood with a game of heads and tails that our very own Kate Rogata won.
During the delicious three course dinner, guests had the chance to bid on our silent auction where they could win some incredible prizes.
We also watched the ITV News interview that the team, our volunteers and members were asked to be part of last year during the pandemic. It reminded us all just how important it is to continue raising much needed funds for small, independent charities like SOP. For many of our members, without the support and outreach that we provide, they would have no one else to turn to.
After dessert, it was then time for the Auction, followed by the raffle results. We were lucky to have so many amazing prizes to include within the Auction and raffle, that were kindly donated by so amazing businesses and individuals in the Harrogate community.
The band then got us all up our feet, playing some brilliant classics from the 80’s. The rest of the evening was spent dancing and laughing with friends.
It’s safe to say, the night was a huge success raising an incredible £7313.60!
We couldn’t have ever imagined raising as much money as we did on the night and that was all thanks to those who joined us on the evening, our sponsors and also the people working behind the scenes to make the evening possible.
